These Christmas & New Years holidays we decided to visit some beaches that aren’t in the Bayside area, but still relatively closer to home… We had looked at a couple in our area a couple of years ago, but they were more muddy rather than sandy, so were a little skeptical of what we might find…
Nonetheless, I decided to look at a few Google satellite maps to see what was around. We decided to visit a couple of beaches during the evenings where my wife wasn’t working, and the weather wasn’t too bad.
On Boxing Day, we picked Balnarring Beach. Apart from the occasional weird smell of gas, it was a very nice beach with gorgeous fine white sand – much finer and nicer that any beaches in the Bayside area – probably some of the nicest sand I have walked on in many years!
The beach has a rocky area as well which supports a wide range of sea life and can be easily walked across while the tide is out. As it was a public holiday, there was nothing really open at all except a pizza shop and the pizza was actually pretty good and their menu has so much to choose from – including chicken and fish dishes (not just pizza)!
A small but significant milestone for my youngest – she was able to hold a small crab in her hand without freaking out!
